Sculpture Gallery à Commissioning a Sculpture à
Sisters: A commissioned sculpture in progress.

(603) 284-6335

"Sisters" stands about two feet high and will be cast in bronze.  It is being created for the garden of a private residence in Lake Forest, Illinois.  Pictured at left is the final clay model just before heading to the foundry in March, 2000.

How does a commission like this work? Use the links below to follow the progress of "Sisters" from its beginning as a mere gleam in one mother's eye.

For more information on the process, see How to Commission a Sculpture.

Step 1. A mother of twin daughters wants to surprise her husband by commissioning a sculpture of them for their garden.  She calls me, and I visit her home to discuss her ideas and possible locations.
Step 2. I photograph her daughters and produce three 6-inch clay maquettes showing three different design concepts.
Step 3. The client approves one of the 3 designs. We decide on a site.
Step 4. I produce the full-sized sculpture in clay.
